A wish to learn? A need of sense? A desire to visit another way? Go and visit the maison du visiteur. In a few time, you will receive pictures, sensations and explanations that will provide you the way to catch the sense of the basilica’s stone, its light, its symbols its liturgical destination.

The audiovisual part
In a screen wall, 250 unseen photos show through the architecture the exceptional meeting between stone and light. The slide show “A l’ombre de la lumière” (From the shadow to the light) is an invitation to discover or re-discover the basilica as a light receptacle.

Guided visit of scale models’ room
The commented lecture of the plan offers historical, technical and symbolical points of reference that allows you to locate yourself in the space, to be permeated with the volumes, to stop into particular spots and to walk along to your own rhythm.

The staging of the sun’s course on the Basilica’s walls during solstice days permits to understand the cosmic implantation of the edifice, and to get to know its symbolical meaning.
Sculpted replicas of several chapiters are located within sight; they allow an easy reading of the image. This image sets up in a progressive way, from the plasticity of its relieves to their significance. This step could be a privileged time for common observation, which is propitious to make eye contact.

Open everyday to September, except from Easter to All Saints' day (in November), open on Thursdays, Saturday and non-working days at 15.00, 15.30. On Sundays at 11.00 and 11.30 and on Mondays at 10.30 and 11.00.
